Recently I have not been able to get more than 20-30 FPS in any game. This includes Minecraft, Garry's Mod, Battlefield3/4 and a lot more. Before recent times I could play most games at Ultra 1080p settings with very good frame rates. I have done multiple virus scans and closed in unnecessary processes but that doesn't change anything. I'm running the latest beta drivers from AMD and my computer should be getting higher framerates than it is.
System Specs:
CPU: AMD FX-6100
GPU: Asus r9 270x
RAM: 8gb(2x4) @1600mhz
you might be haveing the same problem as me were the computer is getting way too hot but its an easy fix tho a bit crude just get a large desk fan and put it in a box then load the box with ice put the laptop/ pc on top of the fan and turn it on or get better cooling on your computer like water i hope this helps you as much as it helped me

You overclocked it didn't you? If not compare some synthetic benchmark scores and you might simply have a faulty card. I know as soon as I put even the most minor of overclocks on my 6870s and 7950s (a few of both) I noticed a massive performance hit and they slowed right down to an unusable point after a week or so.
I have liquid cooling already and I just ordered some case fans so if that is the problem, it should be fixed soon. Thanks!
My GPU is at 1120MHz and the memory is at 5600MHz.
well those look like stock clocks to me so if overclocking wasn't the problem, I would hate to see you just end up with a faulty card. What temps does it run at under load? Unless you keep it in a very bad spot for ventilation a desktop shouldn't have heat issues at stock clocks... but anything is possible I guess. If it used to work fine and nothing has changed but it's performance, maybe check for dust? And monitor the clocks and temperatures under load to see if it is throttling. If its clean, cool (under 75c), and not throttling and you see a performance decrease like that while nothing on the pc has changed then that tells me it's a faulty card. If it is throttling maybe google if other people have had the same problem and fixed it or not.
Update: I did what you said and my FPS tripled! Thanks again :)
It was definitely the temperature. I hadn't noticed that my CPU had gotten to around 80c. One of the fans for my Liquid Cooler has to be replaced, so I temporarily turned it off. This should all be fixed when my new fans come in. Thanks for the help.
all ways happy to help the fan trick works surprisingly well i made a old laptop what i got for free of a friend run eso at max settings
I have a 7850 and setting the tesselation to application setting instead of amd optimized in CCC seems to help a lot in games.
