Hi, i just stuck 2 vortex CF-V12HPs in my new fractal R3 at the front, they are still as loud as the stock ones, is it due to my ambient temperature? 26.1 celsius at the intake, my guess is they are running flat out.
I tried SpeedFan and in the bios to adjust the speeds but i can't seem to find the fans.
my MB is a ASUS M4A78LT-M both fans are connected via 4 pin adapters and the fans claim to have auto sensor control. :/
They have to be hooked up to the 4 pin header for pwm . If you have them hooked up to the 4 pin molex then your running at max voltage and they will be louder and run faster. With the cougar 4 pins they only give you the option of 4 pin pwm or 4 pin molex with means you will need to hook them up to a fan controller with 4 pin molex if they are not hooked up to a 4 pin pwm header.
the fan controler the case came with only supports 3 pin, that means i need to buy a 4 pin controler if i dont want the 2 fans running flat out all the time?
Or do i get a splitter which goes on to the cpu fan connection?
i don't think my motherboard has a PWM Header -_-
(so many edits as i discover new things)
i Think this is what i need - http://www.quietpc.com/gel-pwm-1-4-pwmcable
Ya, may work but be i personally wouldnot load one header like that . Fan controller with 4 pin pwm or 4 pin molex . Your cougars came with the molex adapters.
Keep in mind that for any form of speed control the fans need to be plugged into the motherboard (unless they have manual controls on them or a fan controler unit is installed) according to your motherboard manual you have 1 4 pin CPU fan header and 1 3 pin chassis fan header, im thinking you might struggle to sort it out.
guess it was my mistake to buy these ones, i saw 4pin connector and i knew i had plenty of them but not knowing it was a diffrent connector, oh well! maybe its time for a MB upgrade :>
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811992005 fan controller that would work. I used a cheap aircool fan controller. Cougars are nice fans. 4 pins are really used for cpu coolers and rads the 3 pins make the better case fans. i have all the versions in one case runs very quiet and cool. :)
with your 4 pin molex adapters yup. I prefer the aircooler one i have, its push button. Not convinced the touch led displays last long enough yet. Look good though.
well if i want to shut the door on my case i think it has to be a flat display unless i push the controller a bit inside so the door shuts but i think that would be ugly
