the other day i was preparing my laptop for a vacation. while i was prepping the laptop i copied over my music folder over from my desktop. this was a long copy do i let it sit over night. but when came back to my computer i notice that one i was missing many files from my music folder in both my desktop and that many files didnt complete the trip over to my laptop. Ive searched my computers top 2 bottom but i can find my missing files(aprox 7 gigs are unaccounted for). anyone know if my data is recoverable and how to recover it if so?
Hmm... Did you cut and paste instead of copy? strange that anything would happen with copy.
I would say using an undelete program. I used this one before but maybe someone else can recommend some too:

Well I tried but I cant find any files, well at least the ones I want. All I managed to find were alot of broken mpeg files and some folders with playable music files but with random file information. Even though the file name was left unchanged. I cant help but wonder what happened, and since I copied the entire music file I dont see how I could has mis clicked cut instead of copy seeing as I have most of the files. unmoved and undamaged. Even more puzzling is the fact that all the file I'm missing on my desktop never made it over to the laptop either. Thanks for your help though its much appreciated. At least its only 7 gigs. and thanks to itunes i know exactly what I'm looking for.
