Can't say I am really surprised but really sad. Seems that if you play music over your stream twitch will mute your audio. This is BS and really considering switching to Hitbox.
Here is the article for you all to read. http://www.giantbomb.com/articles/twitch-implements-controversial-new-policy-changes/1100-4982/
Agreed, Google nor Twitch is at fault here, this is all the fault of the DMCA. Hitbox will meet the same fate as Twitch and Youtube once Hitbox gets on the RIAA's radar.
Also Audiomagic only work on VODs, not livestreams
what if I'm playing Grand theft Auto IV and i'm Playing custom music that I PUT into the music directory so i can play the music in-game it's just going to Bloody Mute it?
Its pretty simple, dont play copywrited music during a stream. Disable the custom tracks. They dont want to get sued, and I dont blame them. It isnt their fault, at all.
I feel the cool thing about the service was. It was like going to a buddy's place and just hanging out. And Phantom I do know how lawsuits work. Does not mean I have to like it or agree with you.
Also your a Mod. I expect better from you. Just because some one has a different option does not deserve name calling.
I'm sure just like the automated system that launched on YouTube it will mute all kinds of stuff for no reason. And that was my main problem with it. But as twitch gets bigger the more disappointed I am getting with the service.
am i the only one who is actually excited about this? i was wandering around twitch looking for some Halo stuff, and both of the live channels up were playing LOUD music while trying to talk and game. and one of them was playing this god awful emo screamo whatever shit. it was un-watchable.
can people just go back to having game audio and talking? Gee Whizness
i mean... seriously. especially if you want viewers. because i could be playing some Death/Judas Priest/Iced Earth etc., and some people just hate that, so they will go watch someone else's stream.
i honestly don't watch twitch that much, but on occasions when i have watched some of the bigger channels, they don't seem to play music. probably because they know it would alienate a lot of viewers.
I look at this new implementation as quality control :P
that is true. my only guess as to why they haven't implemented it for live streaming is that they CAN'T. i assume it would be too hard to monitor all live streams for copyrighted music, or if such material isn't an issue if it is being streamed live? i have no clue about these laws. but yeah :P
Grow a thicker skin. My comment wasnt even really toward you, but everyone in general, and mostly, Mkk
I didn't call you a name. I didn't call him a name. I said saying something like this was stupid.
Which it is.
Also, people here frequent at a technology site. Id expect them to actually do research and realize twitch isn't the one behind it, and are being forced.
There are tons of these threads. "Oh twitch sucks. Oh twitch is screwing everyone over, blah, blah."
Anyway I really don't care. Just saying words like stupid where made to be taken only one way. I used to use all kinds of words like stupid and dumbass. But then some people got really offended by it so I stopped. I used to have a really bad vocabulary when I was younger. Anyway back on track.
Also we are already seeing how this is started to back fire. The dev that makes Necrodancer has had there own game videos flagged. And there is no repeals system in place. This was rolled out in the worst way possible. And people like Logan should have the right to play anything he has created or given permission to use with out a flag or take down of some type. And I just found out that Pinball Arcade guys had there own video muted. And can you please post any links to articles of what your talking about.
What articles? I said threads. On this forum. search for them if you wish. Every time something happens like this, its all over the forums.
Its nothing personal. Just tired of people spreading articles and "facts" without researching them, or finding out who is behind it. It spreads ignorance, and should be stopped.
Fortunately for everyone Twitch has recognised the critique and promised to come up a direct appeals function as well as working to improve the precision. To avoid the significant amount of mistaken identification where for instance even crowd backgorund noise had been identified as specific copyrighted material (insert joke concerning modern music here). They've also agreed that it was stupid to make such a change without any beforehand information. I guess it's still a matter of time how long streamers will be feeling okay with putting up with a broken system.
That they have no "intention" to filter live streams is certainly a matter of practicality. There's no major difference in the law that excempts live broadcasts, but it would take a lot more processing horsepower to do it.
YouTube needs to have an option to buy the rights to keep the song from being muted. I did a huge video project with my school that I literally spent 8 months on and 1 month after posting it the entire video was muted. GRRRR
