Looking to upgrade my pc this summer for future titles like the witcher 3.
My current system:
I7 2700k @ 4.4
asus z77 lk
amd 7870
corsair 750 watt psu
hyper 212 evo
8gb ddr3 @ 1600 mhz
2 ssds
1tb wd black
Fractal arc midi r2
144 hz asus monitor @1080p
60hz asus monitor @1080p
I'm thinking that a graphics card upgrade would make a huge difference. I'm also thinking that I can hold off a bit on the mobo and the cpu.
yea I would get a new GPU, and maybe a new monitor if you want (144hz IPS 1440P?)
as for the rest you're pretty much golden for now, I would wait for AMD's Zen and Intels next refresh (not the skylark the 2016 one)
For GPU's I would wait for AMDs new line up and either prick up a previous gen card on the cheap or get one of their fancy new cards.
Cheers

I was thinking about going with nvidea this time around maybe a gtx 970?
avoid the 970 like the plague.
It has a Vram issue, so you have to keep vram ussage under 3.5gb or the card shits its self, also Nvidia handled the situation like a giant cunt. also 290x is cheaper/faster :)
but I do recommend waiting for the new cards from AMD to come out, since it will cause everyone to have a price drop giving you better choice for what ever price range you're looking at.
Yea I heard about the gtx 970 vram issue.
Don't go for it, 290x faster cheaper and 4gb of Usable Vram
**A r9 290 or gtx970 will suffice (to those whining about the vram issue 99% of people that own one dont notice it or dont care - its still a very good gpu with benchmarks to prove it). There will no doubt be some dirt cheap 290's flooding the market soon before the 3xx series is released. Maybe even hold off till then, see if the new 390's are any good.
**Your cpu and mb combo will suffice for a long time yet. While not being the best board to oc on you may get away with a small oc if you need it.
I'm waiting till the 980ti and the 390x come out. I'm not crazy about the gtx 970 vram issue or the 290x's power usage.
The power consumption between the R9 290X and the 980 is not a massive gap most people make it out to be.
Honestly if you are going to wait for a 980TI then you might as well buy a Titan X at that point. You get double the VRAM and a stronger single GPU since obviously nVidia is not going to over shadow their current Titan, Yet.
The titan x is overkill for my 1080p monitors.
