Looking to start buying

Just wondering how I would go about buying ( don't suggest mining I've already considered it and it's a no go)

I'm not very comfortable handing out my bank details online to do a transfer, but I've seen some places accept pay pal something I would be more comfortable using to buy some bitcoin. It this a safe thing to do? If so any websites anyone has had good experiences with ??  (I'm in the UK)

Why would you want to? Especially if you don't want to mine them, they're getting more and more worthless.
