So my info might be completely outdated as I’m still to lazy to update and i’m currently using ibm notes 9.0
But the steps should still be the same to install it.
- install it on windows
- Copy the files folder with all dbs over to your linux machine.
- create a new wineprefix
WINEPREFIX="$HOME/prefix_notes" WINEARCH=win32 winecfg
Change windows to xp (probably not needed anymore)
WINEPREFIX="$HOME/prefix_notes" winetricks vcrun2015 gdiplus ie7
Edit the notes.ini in the root of your copied files and add UseBasicNotes=1 (this disables the java gui and falls back to the old gui)
WINEPREFIX="$HOME/prefix_notes" wine regedit
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER → Software → Wine
Add the key WineBrowser
Create Browser key inside of it (example value could be firefox)
Next edit HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT → http → shell → open and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT → https → shell → open
Create edite the command so that it looks like this:
C:\windows\system32\winebrowser.exe -nohome "%1"
Close regedit and open ibm notes via
WINEPREFIX="$HOME/prefix_notes" WINEDEBUG=-all wine PATHTOYOURNOTES.EXE
I also just figured out that wine 9.22 seems to have a bug when running notes in classic mode (crashing when opening mails). Currently, I reverted to wine-ge-8.26 and this seems to still run fine.
Edit: just had to reinstall it as i couldn’t open my mails anymore and my prefix was a little wierd, as it was created 5 years ago. I fixed some of the instructions so that it opens the correct browser when you click on a link inside of a e-mail.
