Looking to buy an FPGA for mining but im a little confused at what i should be looking for?

my friend says i need to look up a FPGA card that can hook up through a seriel port, but im shur there is more to it then that?

Please do not buy an FPGA. For what they cost, you can pick up an AMD card that destroys it in hash rates.

And as for ASIC miners, they still do not exist on the market.
