Looking to buy a gaming laptop for ~$1500(US)

I’m looking at a few different laptops right now but I’m not sure if it would be better to go with one that has a 980m with a 4720HQ, or a 970m and 6700k. I’m looking to use it for gaming as well as video work.

just a rule of thumb its better to go with the stronger gpu than the cpu when it comes to gaming. So out of that list I would go with the 980M. I will also be the first to tell you that kind of money you could build a really good desktop PC. Whats the reason for going with a laptop.

i have a desktop already, I wanted something I could take out with me because I'm not home to use it a lot of the time. I am thinking to just get a cheaper laptop and upgrade my home rig though. You can't make any huge performance upgrades to a laptop so I wanted to get a decent enough one to last me a while.

That's probably a pretty good option.

I love amazon but I'm not into their computers unless I'm buying a cheap refurb. You can buy bare bones models or custom assembled laptops along with pre assembled models from these sites. Xotic will also do custom laser engraving if you wish. I got my last laptop from eluktronics.
