A friend of mine is looking to get more serious into PC gaming, as he just uses a Toshiba laptop to game lightly on and he wants to try out titles like BF3 and Arma 2. He gave me a $500 budget and I and another friend found these parts on PC Part Picker for $553 (USD) after shipping and MIR, we were looking to get a few parts (or similar parts) used, besides the OS (he won't use the drive off of his laptop for Windows 7, it is only 250GB and he wants a bigger drive) I am really hoping we can get some RAM for him used because RAM is really expensive to buy new right now. He could also use a decent DPI-adjustable mouse for the right price.
Here is the build we made for him on PCPartPicker http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1qy8P
Dude, Google Shopper and Ebay are your best friends.
I am just opening my options to the forum to see if I can find more parts used. Not everyone lists their stuff on eBay.
Are you interested in graphics cards? I couldnt understand what exactly you where looking for sorry. I'm selling these right now :
1X 7970: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&pid=1481&psn=&lid=1&leg=0
2X 6970: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1041&pid=1353&psn=&lid=1&leg=0
- 230$ for (1) 6970 or 350$ for (2) 6970's

Those are nice GPUs, just a little out of the budget for my friend's build.
I have a 1TB Seagate HD 7200RPM, would you buy it for 40 bucks shipped?
I have 8GB (2x4GB) 1600Mhz Kingston Hyper X blue for sale right now, selling as a set $55
Heres a link to it on newegg
I would do something more like this. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1sI1q
If he wants to play arma the ram and cpu are important. I would also try to get a disc for the same version of windows on his laptop if its windows 7 and install it on this machine and use the key on the bottom of the laptop as they have multiple activations.
But his is OEM, not sure if that would work at all in his case. Also, good build, more bang for your buck value. I think I wouldn't get the motherboard or CPU Cooler in your build though, the motherbvoard is FM2, not AM3+/AM3. I wanted AM3+/AM3 for upgrade ability incase he gets the money for some FX CPUs later in time. The CPU in the original build we designed was fine, it was virtually the same thing, just has that extra upgrade options with it having the AM3 socket. I have been lookig for some good RAM, with a good price on it so thank you for that link. The Wi-Fi card I picked was just a little better, at the extra cost of $10 so I will just go with yours, and if we knock out the CPU cooler he will have a solid build for a round $500.
That's way too much for that 7970. You can get new ones for less.
still have that harddrive for sale? i would be intersted.
I do have the HD for sale still. LMK if you are still interested.
i am still interested in the hhd that you listed message me since this site wont let me for some reason.
I have 8GB of G.Skill RipjawsX. It's two sticks and they run at 1600mhz, 1.6 volts, and timings are 7-8-7-24. I'm not using them anymore and they're in perfect condition if you want to take them off my hands for $30.
