Hey guys,
So, I want to upgrade from my 4770k to a Ryzen build and do KVM for Windows 10. I want a 1700 or better. I already have a 7970ghz GPU and will most likely need another gpu. Im looking to do this piecemeal. I guess the Mobo and RAM first followed by CPU and GPU. Potentially replacing the PSU I have (Gold Corsair HX750) with a Seasonic Titanium.
Suggestions on parts? I prefer AMD over Nvidia.
On the mobo side I would like it if the IOMMU would allow me to segment the NICs (Windows/Linux). I want to be able to dedicate specific USB ports and NICs and so on. I will be using my Creative Soundblast X-FI Titanium sound card as well to handle the Windows sound while the onboard can be Linux.
I have multiple SSDs and HDDs already.
My computer case is a Corsair Graphite 600T and my current CPU cooler is an old Coolermaster Hyper N520.
I would prefer to keep the costs low per part. I like bang for the buck.
Well, as a mainboard I'd recommend ASRock's Taichi, but that not low-cost and more on the premium side. I think L1T has tested PCIe passthrough on Gigagbyte's boards as well, so maybe pick one of those. I'd stay away from MSI, because they actually use the worst VRMs.
Depending on your GPU, the HX750 should be fine (I guess...)
Concerning your RAM: Ryzen profits more from faster RAM than Intel CPUs. That being said, I myself have a 1700X with these RAM sticks and my performance is awesome. But I guess it would be even better with faster RAM
GPU: If you are a gamer, I'd pick a rx580.
RX 580 is currently ~$600
I was going to place the HX750 in my media server which currently has a Roswill Green 450W from 2010. Im planning to move the Intel stuff to the media server.
I am willing to install an additonal gigabit NIC
Thanks to the mining, the GPU market is horrendous now. I'd wait for the fad to die off again before making a purchase.
