I intend to use thunderbolt to transfer video (Using a TB3 enclosure with capture cards)
I would like to monitor the total data throughput so i can see if the thunderbolt chipset is bottlenecking at any given point. Is there either a hardware passthrough device that i can put in line to do this or any software that will accomplish this? Ideally it would monitor both in and out. I have done the theoretical math behind it all, but seeing some hard proof would give me much more assurance that I’m not hitting limits because of 8/10bit encoding or simply miscalculated my data needs.
Additionally, I have seen some laptops that have more than one Thunderbolt hub, namely the Dell XPS series. I haven’t been able to find a block diagram though and am wondering if, generally, CPUs will bottleneck on this. Essentially, do both thunderbolt chips go through a mux or can CPU architectures actually handle the throughput of two saturated thunderbolt connections?
Thanks all!
