Looking for Steam Remote Play alternatives on Linux host

Hi!

I’d like to find an alternative to Steam Remote Play. I want to stream from my Linux Desktop (Ryzen 9 5900X, Radeon 6700XT) to my android TV, which works fine for most games, but for some reason the CPU/GPU in my TV is to slow to decode some game streams (doesn’t really make sense to me, but its what the performance graphs say, maybe debugging this is worth opening another thread  )

Moonlight seems like the best FOSS alternative, but the host is Nvidia only…

Does anyone have experience with sunshine as an alternative moonlight host? That seems to support all gpus.

Looking Glass comes to mind as well but it seems it does not/will not support streaming over the network.

Other alternatives would be much apreciated.

Cheers,

I don’t vouch for all GPU’s (I imagine a trident or cirrus logic I have around won’t handle it particularly well) but I have run Sunshine as a gamestream host with i5-3340 iGPU and newer, discrete AMD cards on Linux and nvidia on windows.

Together with moonlight It is basically amazing. I don’t know you can run moonlight directly on Android TV, but a laptop or some other old device (e.g an old dell with an i5-3340) can be a thin client on a HDMI input.

It looks like the official Moonlight app can be directly installed on my tv (It might just be the regular android app but that doesn’t seem to make much difference).

I’ll give it a shot when I have time again and report back my findings for future internet travelers

Cheers
