Hey guys I am looking for some new headphones. I am looking to spend around $300. Interested in trying some open back headphones with velour pads, I am not really into the leather ones. My current headphones are Sennheiser HD 449. So, I am probably going to make a big jumps. If anyone has anything to recommend as long as they are better or equal to these it will be fine. Also if you can I would like a recommendation on some nice closed back headphones as well but with velour pads. I really don't like the leather ones.
i like my pair of Beyerdynamic DT 880s, i don't know about the sound quality comparison to your current set, but the pads are amazing, as Logan has also fore-mentioned before. i can go 9 plus hours without taking them off. I will say that he head cushion is a bit lacking and if you have a large head like me then you will have issues as well, its only slight soreness after about the 7 hour mark for me. Always check a review before buying a product, Logan did a review on the DT 880s both pro and premium.
I recently bought the Hifiman HE-400 cans. Love them so far. I got them from one of the sellers on Amazon which has them priced at $299 with both the leather and velour pads. They aren't very difficult to drive and are fairly comfortable. They aren't light, but feel solid as hell.
I have a set of Sony MDR-7506 that I modded with set of Beyerdynamic velour earpads that sound really nice... they cost no where near your $300 budget, but I'm sure the sound these put out is amongst the best of all time.
