Anyone know what @wendell is using for his vertical monitor setup?
Oh i see it now, totally read over that sorry!
I can see they are not available anymore here too (netherlands).
If mine breaks i won’t even be able to get a replacement ![]()
This display with resolution does do weird things with my docking station. If i attach it to my club3d docking station with only 1 display, it limits to 1920x1200 which is not native. But when i attach 2 displays it does work , maybe it reserves bandwidth to displays using the resolution and does not know what to do with 2560x2880?
The problem with 2 displays is that it is too much bandwidth for the dock and it starts throttling when doing stuff over usb or ethernet.
I have the dualup connected directly to the laptop and an ultrawide to the docking station to solve it.
just switched to 2 of the benq monitors, see the linux weekly video from not last week… the week before? also did a separate benq monitor review
I don’t notice a ton of difference between 60 and 75hz personally so I haven’t put the effort in to find out what it can do with regards to refresh rate! Can’t wait to hear what you think of yours when it arrives!
Ah yes, I thought you had done a video about it recently, forgot it was a Linux weekly. ![]()
Would be interesting to see a comparison between these JAPANNEXT clones vs the BENQ ones for those of us who’s pockets are not quite deep enough for the BENQ.
Also wish there was more options for us portrait aficionado’s
Edit: Exciting !

I used to have a 30” Dell U3011 at 2560x1600.
I bought it in 2010 and used it up until I went 4k in 2015.
I was transporting it when I moved a few years back, and it got damaged, which made me sad. It was a great screen for productivity work.
Seen here ~15 years ago in a “PLP” setup with two Dell 2007FP’s in portrait mode which matched perfectly from a resolution, height and pixel size perspective.
Holly GLOSS Batman!
This thing is like a mirror! Will take @crispy_bacon advise and order a screen protector for it to dull it down, but otherwise this thing is beautiful. Razor sharp, bright and vibrant, no other complaints, it went straight on a monitor arm so i cannot say anything about the stand quality but it did look a bit flimsy.
So far, very happy for the price.
These days if I’m looking for a cheap monitor I use Aldi.
For Aussies browsing here, Amazon AU has the gawfolk 28” 3:2 4k Monitor back on sale for AUD$208.99!
where did you get the power supply from? I’m from Canada and looking into getting this monitor
The Japannext ones take a standard C13 3 pin power cable and support 110v - 240v so any standard PC power cable should work.
I went to a local electronics shop and picked up a meanwell 12v 5a power supply
I’m sure you could find something similar from a good PSU manufacturer in Canada too!
Also, welcome to the community!
