Hello all. Currently I am using my 22in 1080p TV and a 1280x1024 as my monitors. I am looking into buying a monitor soon (a SSD and a mouse are on my list later on down the road). I was looking at this monitor currently: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FXOTJAA/ref=gno_cart_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER I want opinons on it, or suggestions for better monitors in the same price point
if you can stretch your budget a bit more, then i'd recommend grabbing the 23.6" version. a friend of mine got one a couple years ago, and for a non-ips pannel, the colors are very vibrant, and most of what i've seen looks great. it doesn't have as deep of blacks as the more expensive monitors, but it's still a good buy. with the 22", you're not gonna get the same color depth as you would on the bigger one. and in my opinion, the more colors, the more better.
other than that, practically any 22" or greater 1080p monitor is gonna be better than using a 22" tv.
that is a pretty good monitor. should have low input lag. however, if you can manage an extra $50, you could get this monitor (which i own). http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Gaming-Monitor-RL2455HM-24-Inch/dp/B007HSKSMI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1395549699&sr=1-1&keywords=benq+rl2455hm
it is 24 inch (vs 21.5) and i can vouch for the input lag. it is not noticeable, and i came straight from a CRT lol. great for FPS/fighting games. it is also an official MLG monitor.
but if $130 is your budget, that is a good choice. an Extra $27 could get you a 23 inch, that has the same low input lag (had my friend get this monitor. he loves it) http://www.amazon.com/VH238H-23-Inch-Monitor-Integrated-Speakers/dp/B004J6BIJ8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1395550015&sr=1-1&keywords=vh238h
That benq looks tempting. What is the refresh rate at? Some of the reviews state it is too bright, you have any issues with this? Currently I game with the room light on, otherwise I get a headache.
it is only 60Hz, but you can't get a 120Hz monitor for $180 lol you can get an ASUS 144Hz for $280 though.
not too bright to me. i mean, there are brightness controls. but i have the brightness at stock, and i use the RTS 1 setting. im very happy with this monitor.
I have that benq monitor. Its a great monitor a little bright when you first get it but nothing to bad. You can easily go into the monitors menu and put it down. I have mine at 50% and its just right. The only downside to it is the colours are not as great as a ips but is still pretty good for a tn panel.
this is true, however, IPS costs more, and there are only a handful with low Input lag. if you want a list of monitors with low input lag, check these out (anything under 12 is Really good) http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/
there is a good IPS with REALLY low input lag for $299 (27 inch) but the 23" is only $200

This one? http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VS247H-P-23-6-Inch-Full-HD-LED-Lit/dp/B005BZNDS0/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1395600632&sr=1-5&keywords=asus+vx+vx228h
If it justifies the price increase I could stretch my budget for it, im just curious as to how noticeable these colors are going to be in comparison to the one i originally posted
if you keep an eye on it, ive seen this monitor drop to $179 from time to time. Its currently $199 which is probably on the very end of your budget.
I love it and want another one. Low input lag, nice big bright screen, and the colors are noticeably better than my 23" AOC monitor.
