Looking for new games/recommendations

Hey broski's,

I've been bored lately, quite a bit actually. I used to play League of Legends all the time with my buddies, day in day out atleast 3 hours a day. But that has started to bore me. I've been looking arround trying to find a fun game, that would enjoy me. A time sink or so. Right now the game I'm looking forward to play a sh*tload is Wildstar but that isnt prior to release until June, now the beta weekends are entertaining, but I find myself bored most of the time.

Now I like quite a bit of games out there. I'm open to most genres, except horror (T.T). to make up a list of games that I've played would take some time so I'll try to name just a few.

I absolutely love MMORPG's but they've been laking lately and been quite dissapointing. Now single player games are a good way to enjoy myself but they lack the replay-ability. Games that I've played of late:

Bioshock infinite (loved it)
State of decay (brilliant finally a finished zombie survival game)
Dayz (mod, started playing it about a year and a half ago, when It was still fun)
Most MMORPG's, favs being WoW (played since Vanilla, Aion (played until level cap 55) Silkroad online (loved it, shame bots killed it).
and just a whole lot of single player games realy.

I've tried thief but wasn't realy my kind of game. Felt realy boring from the start for me dont know why. and I cant say that dishonored catches my attention. Assassins creed has me doubting, I loved the original and 2 was quite good but Idk about the others that got released (looking towards 3, black flag etc).

Now most game lists that I found were mostly filled by games that are just well known, and just terrible. They all have the same things in them, mainstream games that get backed by bigger developers etc aka cod, titanfall, AC etc etc.... and I cant realy find any good indie games.

SO my question is to you guys, if you could recommend some good games and fun games. A game that could provide hours of content, if not entertain for hours on end. RPG's are always good and survival/crafting/gathering games are a good +.

Hopefully this provides enough info, if not I'll gladly hear it.

Any of the Elder Scrolls games (most likely Skyrim) and The Witcher 1/2 are some good RPGs. Also, if you're willing to settle for older graphics, Knights of the Old Republic was a fun one as well.

Dragon Age: Origins

I can guarantee you will get at least 100 hours out of it.

I really enjoyed tomb raider as a AAA title. definitely worth it. Get the command and conquer series from origin. Its awesome. Red Alert 2 lol im playing that now. Years of fun

Hey thanks for the reply,

I've played both the witcher games and loved them. I'm looking forward to the witcher 3 which is going to be amazing. Also the dragon age inquisition is something I'm looking forward to.

I've played skyrim on console but I was dissapointed, it was allright but lacked content. I completed oblivion 100% so thats why skyrim probably felt mediocre. Though it might be better on pc with mods, though I have no idea what mods are good and fun. I havent played knights of the old republic so I'll add that to a list of games.

Do you happens to know any good indie games that are worth checking out? I loved terraria.

Yeah I loved that game, it was amazing

Yeah I liked the tomb raider game, it wasn't that bad as people said it was.

Fun games that you must play with your friends:

-Warcraft 3 Custom Maps

-Starcraft 1/2 Custom Maps

-Heroes of Might and Magic

-Terraria

-Trine 2

-Diablo 2/3

-C&C Red Alert/Tiberium Wars

-Dungeon Defendes (this is awesome)

-Sanctum 1/2

Logan has made a video of all the Skyrim mods he's used. There are also various mods that add additional lands, such as Wyrmstooth and Falskaar. Also Skywind (Basically a port of Morrowind into the Skyrim engine, i believe) is being developed. There are also the Fallout games, which I believe another is rumored to be in development. But it wouldn't surprise me if you've played them.

In terms of indie games, I assume you've played Minecraft. Starbound is sort of like Terraria, except with a bit more of a sci-fi element I believe. Don't Starve is a decent survival experience, although I did get bored after a short while. I believe Bastion is described as an action RPG, but it has an amazing storyline and I highly recommend. Mount & Blade: Warband is the best of the Mount & Blade Expansions (and it's standalone). However, it is a sandbox-style game, to a certain extend, so there isn't much of a story, if that's what you look for. Faster than Light is a great roguelike starship game.  Magicka is another good action RPG.

do you have anything else to recommend perhapos? :$

Thanks for the reply, I'm not that into warcraft 3, but starcraft does sound aluring. Heroes of might and magic is one of my all time fav series though the latest one has me bummed out a bit. Terarria, like I mentioned is quite fun but gets boring after you've killed everything. Trine 2 is something I'll look into. Diablo 3 is just a bit boring for me atm. C&C isnt something for me, tried tiberium wars and just didn't do it for me .

Ill look into dungeon defenders, and sanctum is a game I own but havent played it yet so I'll check it out. Thanks for the recommendations.

Does anyone have some good indie games to reccomend?

I've seen game play of FTL is that any good?

And gnomoria, has anyone played that? It looks kind of interesting

Trine and Trine 2 are great games, quite cheap as well. If you don't want to spend any money give Dwarf Fortress a go there is a lot of fun to be had there, if you can get passed the learning curve.

FTL is a great time sink, it's a rogue type with lots of random events and unlockables. I've put 20ish hours into it so far and it still has stuff I've yet to find.

Dust: An Elysian Tale

Fallout 2

Fez

Legend of Grimrock

Ys: Origin

Plus it's extremely difficult. I've played 84 hours and I still find it a challenge to win. On easy.

Of course I'm also probably a pretty crappy player, but still it's by no means easy, even if you're a skilled player, on hard.

Thank you all for the recommendations, I've gotten pretty hyped for some games and I've stumbled upon Civ 5, now I haven't played it yet and I can only remember siv 2 back when I was a kid. Now I've watched some gameplay and I was instantly sold. I've purchased both the game and expansions and I trust that this will provide me with plenty of game hours.

If you don't mind an old gem (masterpiece in my opinion) check out Dink Smallwood HD (Not sure if the HD makes a difference, but it's a remake/tweak of the old game by the original author) made by one guy back in the day if i'm not misstaken.

It's an RPG, it's not long, 5-15 hours or something but it's frikkin' awesome if you ask me!

A newer game me and my friends are considering trying out is Contagion on Steam, co-cop/vs zombie-shooter. Doesn't seem too original but alot of fun if played with friends. I'll get back on that if we do decide to try it out.

If you enjoy Civ 5 and the Heroes of Might and Magic series, I recently bought Age of Wonders 3 on Steam, a bit expensive but so far I've put some 10 hours into it and it's a great blend between Civ and HoMM and it's really fun and charming :)

How about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, I really enjoyed that game. If you haven't played it and want to try it you should get the Oblivion Lost to go with it as it makes the experience fuller and adds back in features that were cut from the release version of the game (like emissions and cut weapons).

There is also S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat, which is another excellent game, and is made better by using the Call of Pripyat Reloaded mod.

So these are the games I am going to recommend
