I have just found all the games i need to get and play, but i still need books to read when i go to bed. Sadly, i have very high criterias, so it's hard for me to find new books. I have read Harry Potter, which is an amazing universe, Hunger Games, which really made me feels sad and happy when supposed to and Deltora Quest which was just because it was a book from my childhood. The books i read have to be obviously exciting, but also very well written and it preferably has to be able to make me feel what the main character feels. I mostly only read fantasy books, which doesn't happen in our own world/time. Like Hunger Games is many years in the fututre in the remains of USA, or Deltora Quest which is in a fantasy world with dragons and magic etc. I am willing to give most books a chance, as long as they don't contain any "Adult content" ;)
Recently found an old gem called Hyperion by Dan Simmons,
It is part of the Hyperion Cantos series and i found it enjoyable i got the audio book version, gives a whole different experience in my case, but you can also get the paper copy. *has a bit adult content in it
What else, Song of Fire and ice (Game of Thrones) everyone is reading that right now. *adult content
Anything from Tolkien,
Another great book, what also has audio version of it, is The Kingkillers Chronicle, First book is called The Name of the Wind. A great story, main character etc. Definetly pick that up.
Another book series you might find intriguing is The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. Its tied together with our world here and there, but there is a lot of fantacy and old myths, legends from our world put in it aswell, if you have the time, give it a try. The First book is called The Alchemyst by Michael Scott
I second The Kingkiller Chronicle. Best series i've ever read, I'm dying for the 3rd book to come out.
Also, The Black Company series is really good, but hard to get through because of the writing style. Amazing story but took a few tries to start it because its one of those books that starts off and doesn't explain anything, but thats just the writing style.
BEWARE, this book that I'm about to reccomend DOES contain a very brief and non-descriptive sex scene. Be advised that it does not affect anything else in the book, so you can just skip over that general few sentences.
Try Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. It's about this kid who is a hacker, and then a real terrorist attacks his hometown, and he just happened to be on the street trying to help his friend who got stabbed, and the book really gets exciting from there till the end. He is questioned by the Department of Homeland Security, he meets a new girlfriend, he tries to find the kid who got stabbed, the new couple makes out, he hacks some more, and so on. It's set realistically in today's world in Los Angeles, California. Fun read, goes into details about the hacking, mentions actual programs and products, talks about a basic proxy network (the Xnet, as they call it), and besides all of that, I just found out that the second book was published, so I'm gonna go read that next. I highly reccomend this book to a reader like you. This book is in first-person, and the main character, Marcus, describes emotions, feelings, environments, etc. very clearly and well. I could feel the stress of being locked in a prison, I could hear the people screaming in my mind as they got teargassed, and I could picture Marcus's neighborhood like it was my own. It starts off kinda' slow, but gets more exciting as you get into chapter three and four. If you want something long to read, this is the book for you. :^ )
Easily my favorite book. Takes place in the future after an alien race attacked the earth. The government takes this young child prodigy and molds him into the best general the word has ever known through years at a battle school. He knows the government is manipulating him but dosent realize to what extent. Totally one of those books you can't put down and leaves you wanting more after it's all done, which is good because there are like 6 or so books after the first one. Super well written and awesome charactor development.
I personally love the The Inheritance Series By Christopher Paolini : Eragon, Eldest, Brisginr and Inheritance.
About Dragons and Sh*t ;) I think it has pretty good development and the books get more indepth as Christopher Paolini published the first one when he was sixteen and the last one two years ago. If you do read them don't bother with the movie. It was terrible.
I heard about Enders Game and i am going to rent it from the library next time i am down there :D
My dad picked me up a second hand copy of one of the books in the series cheap just have to rent out the first three first haha. so i take it they're a good read?
Song of Ice and Fire is the best series i have ever read. I have read all the tolkien, Harry Potter, Inheritence, and many more but Game og thrones in amazing. the end of book three is unbelievable
This book is pretty large and I remember it having a tragic beginning but it is my favourite book in my favourite genre (fantasy). The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. It took the author some obsene ammount of years to finish and his work shows. I concider it mastery of English langauge storytelling and love it so because it is so different to the generic fantasy story (not saying that they are bad). I definately reccomend reading it if you are above, say, 15 years old because it does contain voilence and is written for young adults +
