Hello. I hope everyone is well.
Now what I’m about to ask and/or prepose may seem like a bit of a fools attempt or request. However, I’m seriously frustrated with a need that has not been filled yet and hasn’t been ever on the windows side. I thought it impossible! … That was until I switched to linux for a bit and got a taste of what I could touch hardware wise with my GPU.
My frustrations with linux being able to cover my ability to play games isn’t there yet as I’ve spent more time trying to get things up and running, (Mostly successfully) Than I have being able to actually do anything enjoyable. Anyway I digress.
I used “corectrl” To limit my GPU power on linux and it was beautiful. I have no such control on windows. In linux I was able to limit GPU power by nearly 90% if I needed to. (I ran at -57% limit (150Watts)). In windows the best I can limit GPU power is 35 watts. (10%)
My goal and my question here is; Is it possible to take the code from Corectrl as it being open source and translate/convert it to be used in windows? If so, What all am I looking at getting in terms of software to make this job happen? As this is a personal project I would hope to be able to do this as 1, an open source project and 2, for free if possible.
I predict a massive learning curve in software and a lot of time investment. However, Maybe you guys know a shortcut that will help with this. I suspect considering there are no other software’s available with this type of functionality on the windows side, that this project is probably a big ask.
Thanks for taking time out to read this and even more so if you happen to reply.
