Looking for Hi-fi Desktop Speakers

I need a 2.0 system speaker system that will deliver solid mids and won't distort when I listen to densely layered heavy music. I don't want a 2.1... there are many systems like that with absolutely atrocious speakers. I briefly owned a Logitech Z506 5.1 system and never heard such horrible sound from a set of speakers. Sad, I used to look up to Logitech as a producer of high quality goods.

I've listened to the Bose Companion speakers and I'm not sold unless I can find something competitive, as I think they are a bit overpriced.

I use a pair of KRK Rokit 5's myself and I think they might be what you seek. The sound is well balanced with a punchy but not overpowering bass, great for music and they certainly play loud enough for my apartment and my neighbours at that. Overall solid nearfield monitors.

I've heard several "hi-fi" speakers ranging from Wharfedale's to Dali's to Jamo's etc, and I don't find them any better than monitors when used as computer speakers and overall nearfield listening when talking small - moderate budgets. Obviously you don't want the most analytical and flat monitors for listening purposes, but the Rokit's aren't that. Now if the TC is actually going to use the speakers in a large space then feel free to ignore my suggestion and look into some floorspeakers + amp, at least that's what I'd do.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Will look into those options.

Another vote for the Rokits. They're not crazy flat or too analytical for enjoying listening to music.

Look at here for the speakers, maybe something is what you are looking for
