Hello everyone. Some of you may remember me from previous posts on this forum. Well the time has finally come to order the parts for my first computer build.
I will be gaming at 1080p and playing games such as DayZ, Planetside 2, Next car game, Battlefield Hardline, Assassin's creed black flag and games coming out in the future.
My build - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/KN9vqs
I will also be getting this monitor (cheap and 1080p) - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/desktop-pc-monitors/monitor-projectors/pc-monitors/aoc-e2270swn-full-hd-21-5-led-monitor-21401709-pdt.html
All thoughts and opinions are welcome. I was just wanted to check if everything seemed good before ordering these parts. Also just a quick question. How long do you think this build will last me when it comes to gaming? I'm estimating around four years, because the GTX 470 is nearly four years old and is still able to play the latest games at decent settings.
Doesn't look like a bad build but a few suggestions.
Since you aren't going to be overclocking maybe take a look at the Xeon 1230V3. It is a little bit more than the 4670, at least here in the States, but it is essentially an i7-4770. So you get HT and a bit more speed.
I don't really like Seagate drives and would recommend the WD Caviar Blue instead. You should also look into getting an SSD if you can swing it. Will really make the system feel much faster.
GPU- IDK about the prices in the UK, but the R9 280X is usually cheaper than the 770 and it is faster 9/10 times and especially at higher resolutions.
If this build is going to be lasting you a while maybe take a look at a better PSU. The CX series isn't bad but it is more of a budget option. Corsair makes some nice higher end PSUs as does CM and SeaSonic.
You really don't need an optical drive but that's up to you.
Thanks for the suggestions and I apologise for the late reply I was busy and didn't get to check this post. Unfortunately my budget is £700, I've gone slightly over and don't want to go much higher so I can't do everything you suggested.
I was originally going to get the xeon and a gtx 760, however I was looking at prices and realised that I for around the same price I could get the GTX 770 and i5 4670 which I thought would be the better option for gaming. I know you said about the R9 280x but I personally prefer Nvidia cards over AMD so I will stick with the GTX 770.
I have changed the hard drive to a WD caviar blue (it was only £3 more)
I found a seasonic fully modular power supply but don't know if it is any good. Can please have a look and see if is any good? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/620w-seasonic-evo-full-modular-80-plus-bronze-atx-psu
