Im looking at the silverstone cs382 with an expansion in the optical bay of a icy dock 8x2.5 sata ssd cage. I’m trying to find a good psu that can power the 8 3.5in drives that the silverstone already has built in cages for and then also powers the 8 2.5in drives in the icy dock expander for a home diy nas to try to build a budget nas with hybrid storage to dip my toes into using a nas. The ssd’s for current things (warm storage i think its called right?) i’m working on. And then the hdd’s for archival cold storage. I’m pretty sure i’ve got a good way to get the sata data connection to all those drives. I just can’t figure out the power solution. (I usually go a bit overkill on wattage as well so a recommendation on that as a bonus would be awesome!)
Welcome to the forum!
I’ve faced this problem before and used to buy an older high quality psu with a lot of sata connectors. However, I’ve recently found these.
I do think it requires a Corsair psu but you can use it with lower wattage psu’s.
What cpu and other components will you use?
And look for an online psu calculator, fill multiple out. This should get you some idea of the psu you need to buy.
Im not totally sure but i know i want at least 8 cores. So likely either a 5800x or a 7800x idk about a gpu if its just gonna be a nas would i need one?
