Looking for advice buying a new monitor

Couple of monitors i found for interesting prices.

Budget models.

  1. Gigabyte M27Q 165Hz. €209,-
  2. Msi G272QPF E2 180Hz €179,-
  3. AOC G27G4XF 180Hz €160,-

slightly more expensive:

  1. Asrock PG27GFT 180Hz. €259,-
  2. Asus TUF VG27AQ3A 180Hz €269,-
  3. LG 27GR83Q-B 240Hz €299,-

I also found a couple of 4K monitors that are close to my budget slightly above.
So i´m gonna take a serious look into those options as well.

I was supposed to get this but they ran out if stock…

Its a good reasonable monitor and was recommended on the rtings site for a while until the more recent models came out. Its a bit older model though…

Regarding your questions.

  • IPS all the way (if OLED is to expensive). I recently bought a VA screen (LG) for a friend (he wanted a cheap 32 inch screen) and I found the overall picture quality pretty meh.

  • I would go 4K even with 27 inch. It scales best for 1080p content and you have more display elements for scaling oddball resolutions - especially if you have to resort to lower resolutions in games etc. for performance reason.
I used a 27 inch 1440p screen in the past and found the resolution to rough and scaling anythink looked especially poor.

Used business screens:

  • In EU for example you can score older 4K screens pretty cheap. Business screens like the HP Z27 or HP Z32 go for 100-150 Euros cover the full RGB color space and use LG panels. I found them decent for gaming as well (but I am not sensitive to a bit of blur or fps). Looking at the used market, especially for IPS screens is really recommended if you want to save money, often you can get even recent models really cheap.
