So I am looking for a way to stream my owned movies, and I would just look into plex TV, but my internet upload is really bad (1mbs on a good day.) so streaming from my PC is out for the question. I tried fooling about with google drive, but it forces my 1080p movies down to 360p. Does anyone have a solution?
Are you talking about streaming movies to your phone or something while you are away from your house?
Yes, and since plex uses my upload (and apparently I have to pay to activate my phone for streaming...) I need to find another solution.
In that case my best advice is transfer it straight onto your device and watch it locally.
Plex works great but it tears up your upload on your home connection as well as your mobile data. You may want to look into mega, they offer cloud storage services but to store a library you will need to buy one of their higher tier plans.
Thanks for the advice.
I agree with Chronos, if you are at home then Plex isn't using upload bandwidth, so long as the device that you are streaming to is on the same network. I have Plex on my desktop and then use my chromecast to stream to my TV.
I am using plex for in-home streaming, and I can't get a better connection (24 down, 1 up is the best around here.), but figured I would ask before giving up. Thank you.
Speaking about chromecast I get really nasty stuttering when I stream to that, but not when I do it with the PS4 which is a shame, because I really like the chromecast!
