Looking for a new monitor

I'm looking for a 24 inch, IPS, 19:10, 1920x1200 monitor for around 250 euros. I'll be using it for gaming, watching movies and pretty much everything else (browsing, working on word, powerpoint).
I've been looking some monitors up and I've found the Dell Ultrasharp U2412m, for around 230 euros, but I'm not sure if I will experience ghosting, since it has 8ms response time. Do you think the ghosting will the noticeable?

That model is a bit old now and a lot has happened on the IPS market over the last couple of years. I'd bet that for instance the Asus VS24AH is a better choice in most ways. It's not easy to find precise specs on the panels that every monitor is built on, but I would primarily try to find one that is not based on e-IPS like that Dell. The e-IPS technology has reduced color depth so that banding will be very visible on smooth color gradients. On the flip side newer monitors with e-IPS are among the fastest non-TN monitors on the market for games, just not this older Dell.

Wish I had a definite recommendation, but I'm personally more drawn to the VA side of monitor tech.

Alright, that one is a bit more expensive here (30 euros), but I might consider that. Although, I can't find the refresh rate anywhere, everywhere I look the refresh rate is not stated.

How about the LG 24EA53? I remember a thread about it a few weeks ago, and people were very happy about it. It uses the new AH-IPS panels, Wendell said those are very good panels (made by LG in-house, by the way):

That one isn't 16:10, though.

It's a regular 60Hz monitor like any other in its class. The official spec says up to 61, probably just an industry standard range. It's likely that it could be nudget up at least a little bit with a custom resolution, but default 60Hz is recommendable.
