Looking for a microphone solution

Currently, my 5-year old turtle beach x12’s are dying. The microphone is falling off the side and speakers are loosing quality.

So, i’m looking for a new audio solution. I don’t want to get a headset, so I’m looking into the modmic. I would prefer to stay under $50, but I can go up to $100.

Any suggestions?

Modmic is kind of the best option in that price point if all you are looking for is to replace your microphone. But if you are saying that your speakers are loosing quality why not replace the headphones as well there are some pretty good options in the $50 price point range which should bring the total to about $100.

I already have the Audio Technica ATH-AD900X. The speakers in the headset are dying.
Which version of the modmic do you think I should get? The omni-directional or the uni-directional

I just got a new audio setup, the best one I've just about ever had. I spent about 70-75$ on it.(I had to pay 22$ for the mic)
Headphones - Superlux 668B - 42.89$ -

Mic - MB-700(MB 800 and MB 8000 are the same, just look different) - 12$ -

Mic stand - 13$ -

The only thing I'd have to say that was weird is that I had to combine the conector that came with the stand and the one that came with the microphone to work with the stand, but besides that it is quite nice.

It will kind of depend on your use case if you are in a noise environment uni-directional has better noise cancellation where omni-directional will pick up more of the ambient noise.

Cool, I think Ill try @Noburt 's Way simply because it's cheaper, and then if I don't like it Ill return it and get a modmic.

Simple test, I'm a quiet person and not that clear

It's a xlr to 3.5 cord, to a 3.5 to usb adapter.

thats inception shit right there.

Yeah, sounds horrible. Like I thought. More noise than voice....
12,- bucks can't buy you a good mic, not even a somewhat acceptable one.

Might just be my setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsUJpBJS7_4
This guy said this
"It needs ~4.5v to sound good. Without it will be quiet or not work at all. I don't have computer with built in mic input so I can't demonstrate."
I'm probably not supplying it with enough voltage
The guy also recommended this to fix the issue - https://www.amazon.com/external-Adapter-Windows-Microphone-SD-CM-UAUD/dp/B001MSS6CS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466356386&sr=8-1&keywords=SYBA+USB+SOUNDCARD

I have one of those already actually. The built in audio on my pc is super quiet.

OK, first of all: NEVER trust a video that has an amazon link to the product that is "reviewed".

Next up: "What is phantom power?"
After reading this you hopefully understand that a USB audio ... thing is just not enough.

For 12,- bucks this is a toy.
