I have a budget of about 2500$.
The things I do with a laptop is:
- Numerical Mathematics Research/Experiments
- Music Production
- Some light gaming (Binding of Isaac, Minecraft, League of Legends)
I want it to be decently powerful, but I need good battery life and portability. It should be comfortable to use on a train/plain. I’m looking more towards the 14 inch form factor. Last time I bought a laptop was 2017, a Dell XPS 15 which has served me well, I would look for something that again lasts me while. In the current landscape I don’t really know what I’m looking for. I think I want:
- 32 GB RAM
- a good CPU
- a tiny dedicated gpu as I believe some python libraries profit from this
- as thin and light as it gets with a good keyboard
I’m happy to be convinced of needing more or less. This is just my current best guess.
I’ve seen the ASUS Zepyrus G14 and not much else. Dell XPS has gone in a bad direction with the keyboard. What else is out there? I’m really having issues just getting an overview.
Thanks for the help in advance!
