Looking for a good powersupply

hi im looking for a good power supply and im on newegg and there are like a billion and one different power supply and i dont know what to buy i want a good psu but noting over $100 i was looking at the corsair ones and they look solid and they have warranty but something a bit cheaper would be good no less than 500 watts.

what brands should i look at im afraid of buying a psu and its DOA and i am selling my 8600gt then im not going to have gfx card and im going to go through the hassle of shipping i want something with the lowest DOA.

what are the best brands?

thats what i was thinking of getting but looking for other stuff and brands

corsair or pc power and cooling

what about like raidmax or ocz or coolermaster or antec etc... stay away? raidmax offers cheaper psu

im running on the psu that came free with my raid max case and its solid its no brand not raidmax its some brand idk

ocz aint as good anything more. Raidmax- shit. coolermaster - average

so is that corsair i choose good or should i go a little higher with the wattage just in case for the future because i heard such good things about corsair psu

are u planing on sli or crossfire?

if yes wat kind of cards are u thinking of?

no sli no crossfire

card: 9800gt as i am afraid of getting 9800gtx+ as i think it might not fit in my case length wise or thickness as it might hit my ram slots on my shitty matx board although i would love a 9800gtx+ i need to just see if it will fit and the only way i can do that is if i go to my local family owned computer store but they are going to charge me more than new egg =/

well then that corsair cpu would be enough unless ur gonna like add 10 hardrives or soemthing.

Take a picture of the inside of the case and measure from slot to harddrive bays see if its 10.5 inches

yeah, corsair is excellent, pc power is excellent... those are really the best brands. but antec does make quality stuff too.

the other pcis from tinypic dont want to upload

will it fit?

and how is that current powersupply i have? whats a switching powersupply?

can u measure ur mobo from left to right for me, cause it looks like theres more than enough space (length) for a 9800 GTX. is ur psu 600W?

corsair psu is absolute win. i can throw in two 4870's if i ever wanted to.

thats what i want to know if my psu is 600w it dosent say anything all it say is pw 600 it says frequency current and voltage if that mean anything because if this is 600 watt then forget buying a new psu and my mobo is 9.6" x 7.2"
