Looking for a good free vpn

Would anyone hapen to know of any fast user friendly vpns that are free.

VPNs are usually not free, as they require quite an expensive infrastructure to maintain. Or you'll have some "trial"-ish stuff, that will block videos and be very slow.

If you do find a "free forever" VPN, you can forget privacy. They have to make money SOMEHOW don't they??

If you just need protection on public WiFi hotspots and such, you can host a VPN at home and connect to that, but if you're trying to use it to bypass your ISP connections shenanigans then you're pretty much stuck paying someone like Private Internet Access.

Any good tutorials on how to setup a VPN at home? I need a quick and easy way to access my local Home Network for files and such .... how vulnerable does this make my Local network to being accessed by someone on the Internetz?

I'm no security expert, but I'm pretty sure OpenVPN with SSLcerts and user auth is near impossible to crack. Its pretty easy with pfSense, I think DD-WRT can do it also, I'll try and write something up or find a tutorial here shortly.

If you wanted you could probably also use a normal Linux server, but you'd have to set static routes on your router so that's kind of a pain. pfSense is the easiest way I think
