Looking for a case to fit a Supermicro X9DRi-LN4+ with CoolerMaster 212X

Hello,

I’ve a have a Supermicro X9DRi-LN4+ board currently case-less. I’ve been planning to build a case for it for a while, as I’m a bit worried about the coolers being a tad to heavy to mount the board vertically and horizontal cases are very rare. So far I’ve come up with 5 options that are available to me:

  • Silverstone GD08
  • FD Define 7 XL
  • FD Meshify 2 XL
  • Phanteks Enthoo Pro
  • Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2

Except for the Silverstone all mount the board vertically. The Silverstone is really hard to find and wouldn’t fit the coolers nor my harddrives. So I’ve essentially two questions, does anyone know of any horizontal, so probably HTPC cases that would fit SSI-EEB and fit like, 8 harddrives? And second one: is it fine to mount a Supermicro dual CPU motherboard vertically (with proper mounting) with two 600g coolers on the thing? I’ve a CoolerMaster 212 and a CoolerMaster 212X (second hand so not matched ). I’m bit scared of breaking the board, it wasn’t cheap.

looking into it further, i learned that while the Phanteks cases and the Silverstone fit SSI-EEB, SSI-EEB != EE-ATX. Therefore my options got lowered down to FD Define 7 XL or FD Meshify 2 XL. I am in the process of looking into second hand options. I have also verified with a person that has used my exact motherboard that it will properly mount into both of the FD cases.
