I just recently got a new pair of headphones and I would love a portable amp/dac that can work with my phone (Nexus 6P) and be used for gaming on my desktop.
Right now, Massdrop is selling the Creative Soundblaster E5 for $150 USD which sounds kinda nice but like most gaming products, it’s usually full of gimmicks and a bit overpriced for what they are(unless these are seriously that good)… So I was curious if there’s better alternatives at a similar price range? Does anyone own a pair of E5 and other dac/amps to compare them with? If so, what’s your experience with it?
I don't have an E5 but I can recommend the FiiO E18 Kunlun. It sounds clean, pretty neutral and has looooots of power. Also it can charge your phone, not a big deal but nice to have.

Sound blasters E5 and the fii0 are solid choices.SHOZY makes a bad ass one called the lancea and its 180 USD that a strong little unit. Depending on your budget there are lots of option you can go to head-fi.org for more information huge audio forum there. Now personally ive been looking for a portable amp/dac myself and decided for an end game (been messing around getting something serious for years) looked around and the Chord Electronics Mojo seems the most recommended and i can say i have no regrets. Entry isn't cheap @600 USD but it blows anything ive heard from every full blown desktop setups under@2000 USD completely away that ive heard.
The Z is not impressed though. :P
I dunno powering 2 Audeze LSD 2 at the same time is pretty mind blowing to me when i tried it but i use mostly studio monitors specifically the JVC MX10 and i use custom IEM CT-6E from a flordia company called clear tune monitors and im diggin the sound alot. But sound is subjective and it may not be your cup of tea and thats the beauty of audio you can explore and find what sounds good to you :).
Hey, if it sounds good to you and you are happy with it, totally fine. :)
I just don't need that grade of specs and I just can't hear that much of a difference from a certain price point on.
I even don't use the E18 that much anymore. On the go mostly running my FiiO X1 for FLAC or casual spotify from my phone with my B&o h6. I have other stuff at home.
