Bug in Adobe Creative Cloud updater erases root level mac data.
It's not really funny for the users, but I couldn't help feeling a little bit of satisfaction when hearing about this.
Senior Software Engineers have been working to resolve this issue quickly, and have this to say about the situation.
"Oops, our bad."

Ikr. Deleting the contents of the folder at the top of the stack in the root directory, what could possibly go wrong?
I just wonder what they were thinking?
I doubt it was intentional, but the it is a rather stupid bug that should have been caught beforehand.
Adobe needs some big competition for people to switch to, so Adobe actually has to care when shit like this happens ...
Oh yeah, I don't doubt it was unintentional. But you'd think sufficient testing and debugging would have been done to ensure something as obvious as this could never happen on release.
Having said that, I've made my fair share of coding fauxpas, but this is Adobe! You'd expect decent quality control from them.
@PcGameHunter Unfortunately, nothing else is really on their level for what they do. For the sheer amount of people that use their products, as well as the amount of time they've been around, they have well and truly established for themselves an edge in the market.
I just can't stand the subscription model that they use. Things like software I like to buy outright. Adobe seems like a parasite to my bank account!
Fuck Adobe, their pricing is crazy. A bit of competition would be nice but for some reason I feel like we're not going to get that, linux support would be nice also while we're at it.
Dunno, to me pricing on creative cloud seems fairly reasonable. $10 per month for photoshop and $50 for everything (photoshop, premiere, after effects, illustrator and a bunch of other stuff) looks like a good deal.
No one takes gimp seriously anymore. "It has a dog icon its dumm HURR"
BlackBlaze being the victime here tells me that some big ass crazy drama is incoming for both Adobe and Apple.
With all due respect, I don't find their pricing reasonable at all. As someone who uses older versions of the software (pre-subscription model), I find $50 a month ridiculous. I primarily use Photoshop and Premiere, but to pay in the vicinity of $600 every year is out of the question.
I get that you do get other "bonus" stuff along with the subscription, but I honestly don't care for all that when all I really want to do is edit video and create gif's, etc. I'd be happy to pay a few hundred outright, but the subscription thing I just stand clear from.
I feel the same way about games that use the subscription model too. I'm sure WOW is a great game, but I guess I'll never know.
@Laughing_Man My thoughts exactly. Monthly payments are only better if you're short-sighted. In the long run you're paying a lot more for features you don't really need.
@FaunCB I still use GIMP. Then again, I don't do photo editing for a living. What little bit I do use for some occasional web design works perfectly fine though.
