More like when he was forced by Corporate politics to shave it down because he didn't look "professional" with it. Having a beard doesn't make you unprofessional, the way you present yourself in your speach and demeanor decides whether or not you are professional or unprofessional. Corporations can suck-it when it comes to physical appearance and their preconceived notions that you are professional or unprofessional based solely on the way you look.

As DeusAres said, this! The corporation I work for allows for mustaches, as long as they're trimmed, but not beards! Seriously, I know it's a food industry but I work nowhere near any food, and people who work overnights are allowed to grow santa-like masterpieces, and they're the ones handling food! How a mustache (groomed or not) can look more professional than a beard is beyond me. It's all in how you work it.
