Loading High-end Games Crashes My Computer

I just built my first gaming computer and though nearly every test via software I have tried says everything is fine, my computer keeps crashing on high-end games. Tests that I have run are HWMonitor, ASUS GPU Monitor, FurMark GPU Stress Test, and Prime95. All results so far have been fine. The games it crashes on are Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed 4, and Metro: Last Light. I have tried these on various settings from low to high and they always crash the system. I have also tried playing Madness: Madness Returns at max graphics on 2560x1440 resolution and it plays fine.

My PC Specs are:
GPU: ASUS Direct CUII OC GTX 780 Ti
CPU: AMD FX 8350
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 R2.0
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16 GB 1600
SSD: Kingston 120 GB
HDD: Seagate 3TB 7200rpm
Optical Drive: ASUS BD-ROM Drive
Power Supply: Rosewill Hive Series HIVE-650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified
Case: Thermaltake V3 Black Edition

All drivers are up do date.

Explain the type of crashing that happens.

The game will go to main menu and when I press start it will play for a few seconds and the screen will go black and it will either restart the system or stay with a black screen until I manually restart.

could be the motherboard. or GPU. or maybe psu aswell.

The strange thing doe, is that you are able to run futuremark tests, can you  try unigine valley test?

Did you do any overclocking? FX8350 with Asus M5A97 R2.0 with only 4+2 powerphase and digi vrm, is not the best combo. But it should be able to handle it on stock.

Psu: could be faulty, but it not seem to be very likely. 650W should be more then enough.

GPU: could be a gpu problem, if you have a second system arround in which you could test you gpu, to determine, if its a gpu problem, also make sure your drivers are up to date.

Temps: check the temps.

Strange thing is that you can run prime95 without any issues, and future mark and such.

So i start to lean towards a gpu problem.

Thank you, I did not overclock anything and the temps never exceeded 66 C on the CPU and the GPU never went above 82 C. I'll try the Unigine Valley Test. Thanks again, you were exceedingly helpful.

I tried the Unigine Valley test and it crashed on that as well.

Just a thought, i don't know what platform you used for getting these games (Steam, uplay, origin, etc.) if you got them on steam verify the game cache files to make sure that the games installed correctly.

66°C is really Hot for a FX CPU. Get yourself a better cooler like this (budget/light OC) or this/this (high end/OC).

I'm sending the graphics card back to Newegg.

i think its a gpu problem indeed.

Also 66C is abit hot...maybe airflow in the case is not ideal..
