Linux Video Streaming Server-PLEASE HELP

Hi, I am trying to help my high school set up a Linux video streaming server for a broadcasting class. All this server needs to do is stream to uStream, so basically it has to be a basic machine with a capture card. My old school did it with a 1.8GHz single core and cheap usb capture card, but the driver support for that card was a little buggy sometimes, so I am trying to find a better card this time. Any suggestions? It needs to be able to capture standard definition 4:3 video from a BNC connector or a composite video connector, and audio from 2 RCA audio connectors. Nothing fancy, because it just has to stream to uStream, and I know the machine doesn't need too much power because I am the one who set up the 1.8GHz single core laptop with 16mb of video RAM, and it works fine as long as the capture card drivers are working (every now and then you have to restart the machine).

Please help!

Use linix mint.

Then remove all crap that is not nessecery.

Then use that video capture that hasĀ driver support that is a little buggy beacuse most likly there is no alternt software for that card

You should be able to find something from Hauppauge that fits your needs. They help support development of Linux drivers, so I imagine stability shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully someone can back me up with some first hand experience, because I haven't used any of their products myself.
