Not what I expected when opening this post.
A good watch indeed.
Thank you for posting this video. It was very informative.
I've watched the past two sessions of this. These were actually what got me into Linux in the first place, I think.
Thanks for posting! I forgot about these.
I think he had a pretty interesting point in the last few minutes. Nobody says explicitly, "Linux sucks!" because anyone who knows enough about it to say something like that confidently has a particular problem that they understand will probably be fixed soon enough. Seriously, though; how many times is Linux in a sort of comparison thread with Windows and Mac OSX? It doesn't really happen, and it's oddly fantastic.
The way that so many developers hold open source projects, and Linux in particular, in such high regard is rather fascinating. It's almost a religion of the free programmers (not to put it in any sort of bad light).
A very good video. Thank you for sharing it with us.
unfortunately i can't watch the whole thing at the moment, but i'd like to say i really like how the approach seems to be "we have problems, these are the problems, lets fix these problems" instead of the standard "this is perfect, flawless, it's the best thing in the world, lord turvolds descended from heaven in 1990..."
course i was even told not to comment without seeing the whole thing
Do you want spoilers? I watched the whole thing last night.
Really good talk, kinda makes me want to actually go and see his next one.
As he says, Linux has its issues but they are being fixed. Especially appreciated his comment about how stubborn Mac users can be.
good video, I'm going to have to watch the older versions.
i thought the Distro graphs were the most interesting the, the individual distro graph is a spaghetti monster but the main distro graph show while the other are on the decline Debina is on the rise, he attributed part of it to elementary os (which i need ot check out) but, also i'd like to point out valves big linux push.. that i think has been pushing to people to try steam os (debian) and *buntu (debian).
He then said while they are dipping they will go back up again in the future and go all over the place like thye have been (the graph that is) HOWEVER, i think people are starting to settle on single distro (debian) since it's getting the most programs and games as of late.
Now if needless forking could stop/slow down/minimize.
Book marked so I can watch this when I get home. I'll edit this post later.
