I have a NAS (Iomega IX2-dl) with a single Seagate Barracuda 3000GB drive in it (Model ST3000DM001).
Lately it was running slow and crashed, restarted it a few times, until the partition got corrupted.
Iomega is now under Lenovo and their service is not as useful as I hoped (no big surprise here...)
The problem:
- The firmware knows the array is corrupt > gives option for recovery
- Recovery needs admin account > account data is stored on corrupted disk
- Repeat from first point...
Solution according to Lenovo: set admin password with desktop software.
This gets me on (hidden) maintenance page and it starts with asking admin account...
Situation on the drive:
Right-click options are:
- Delete
- Format to...
- Manage Flags
- Information
Is there a way to mount/repair/fix the partition with my data?
[Edit] I can SSH into it.
Info pulled about OS:
Linux ix2-dl 2.6.31.8 armv5tel GNU/Linux
PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 7 (wheezy)"
I do remember a video (or 2) about a failing 3TB drive, but thats an issue for later.
Will be going for HGST for new drives from now on... Learning the hard way...
