Look at this guy killing it on his PinePhone.
You have two as well? Nice!
Funny, I have those two os’s on eMMC as well.
Yeah, decided it’d be good to both support pine and have one for testing and one for daily.
But now I realize that I might need 3 sims.
I want lomiri to work.
But it looks like phosh might get there quicker.
Mostly because lomiri seems like it’s the most developed.
phosh is my least favorite by a long shot.
Favorite is kde so far.
Guess I need to buy a third pinephone.
Yup, yup. I thought that exact same thing.
Me too since that my favorite.
I feel like everyone agrees with this. Too bad it’s pretty much the only option right now.
Lucky you that seems to be the one getting the most love right now. I’ll take anything other than Posh when I have the option.
It’s crossed my mind, but I think I’ll settle for upgrading the MB in my UBports edition.
Yeah phosh is kinda clunky, but seems like the most functional amongst the various distros. Lomiri may overtake in a few months… on Manjaro anyway. Weird that one of the slicker shells hasn’t been more strongly focused on… I guess KDE is making rapid progress though. I like that Manjaro phosh is including Anbox now. I’ve had MS Teams sorta working in there. Teams chat and stuff works but no meetings or calling.
WHAT‽ I really need to get that on my phone, but it looked like a massive pain from what I found.
Last two dev images of manjaro phosh have it ready to go. I think F-Droid is preinstalled in there also which will let you install open source android apps, but for the likes of MS Teams etc you’ll need to install adb. sudo pacman -S adb
Then you can (with anbox already running sitting at its app screen) run sudo adb install /path/to/app.apk
I’m building postmarketos right now, I wanna see how that works out.
It’s a joke lol
After some system updates (or my mucking about) Anbox now crashes after a few minutes. It always took 4~5 minutes to get to its launcher screen, but was actually working okay before. Now it sometimes almost finishes its startup, but then crashes. Oh well… Teams wasn’t really usable anyway and that was the main thing I was hoping to get going… I’m sure I’ll grab a fresh image within a couple weeks and give it another go. MS has a Linux x86 build (and a Windows on ARM build) for Teams. Maybe we’ll get a Linux ARM build someday for Raspi et al.
Or maybe I’ll try it sooner. There’s a new beta build for Manjaro Phosh. And a new alpha for Manjaro Lomiri.
@delcolux what do you use to take screen shots?
Also I’m liking 1.5 scaling. Definitely feels right to me.
grim. so you can run sleep 10 && grim which will give you 10 seconds to switch over to what you’re wanting a screenshot of.
Oh shit, 1.5 scaling looks so much better!
That 2.0 gives me the “this is a cheap phone” vibes.
I’m on manjaro Phosh beta 5 now. Pandora streaming problem persists.
Plasma performance on the latest Manjaro update is actually quite good so far. I dare say we are approaching ICS levels of performance. (Or at least what I remember of ICS levels of performance).
Also, the Discover app is working fairly well for me, finally.
Only took them a decade
What’s ICS?
Might need to check out Arch next week. Not sure if the audio problem referenced (scroll up to initial tweet) is the same as what we’re seeing.
