Linux newb here needing help

Hey guys so I have been wanting to get more into Linux and such so in the fast few weeks I have also been playing around with pen testing via Kali Linux (Mainly aircrack-ng). But I much prefer the look and feel of Ubuntu so I installed Ubuntu and installed aircrack-ng on my Ubuntu installation and it is much much slower than when I had Kali installed, any ideas how to fix this?

Well, it's slower because it requires more system resources. It's like taking something built to run Lubuntu and then putting Korora on it.

You should use the optimized OS's. I dunno about self installs of those tools anymore but I remember a lot of libs. Make sure you have everything, even optionals.

You can use a distro like Xubuntu which uses the XFCE desktop, or Lubuntu, both are alot smoother then the default ubuntu one.
You can intell either if you're using ubuntu by installing lubuntu-desktop, or xubuntu-desktop packages.
