Linux need to replug 1.4 DP USB-C after reboot

KVM Model:

1.4 Display Port KVM Switch - Dual Monitor - Two Computer

USB Interface (5-gigabit or 10-gigbit):

5-gigabit

Problem:

After reboot, the USB peripherals (mouse+keyboard) still work through the KVM switch. However, I need to unplug and re-plug my USB-C Display Port 1.4 cable for the monitor to be recognized.

Other Notes:

  • Lemur Pro (Lemp11).
  • Fedora 40 with KDE Plasma.
  • Intel Iris Xe Graphics
  • Alienware Widescreen (AW3423DW)

what brand is the usbc to dp adapter? you might be able to use xrandr to fix the monitor configuration so it never changes. The alienware, some firmware versions, have fast dp handshake and powersave settings that you should disable also.

Thanks for the tips. The cable is “Cable Matters 32.4Gbps Bidirectional USB C to DisplayPort 1.4 Cable 6 ft Support 8K 60Hz/4K 240Hz”.
