This is really strange and have no fucking clue why its happening.
I have Win7 and Ubuntu 10.10 in a dual boot configuration.
My sound card is an Asus Xonar DS and it does not support linux there are no linux drivers. That's no problem I use my onboard audio while I am in linux.
Here is the problem when I boot back into windows my audio is a loud static noise and does not get fix until I uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the audio card.
I don't understand how simply using linux can do that to my sound cards windows drivers. It's frustrating because I do not want to keep having to uninstall and then go to asus' horrid website find the driver download it, reinstall it after a million restarts.
WHAT THE FUCK!
Any clues? Tips? Hints?
Much appreciated.
PS: I would also like to add this does not happen every time I use ubuntu only occasionally, it's happened to me three times so far in the course of aprox. 3 months.
EDIT: I just reinstalled the drivers again and the static sound is still there.
My recommendations is sell your sound card and only use linux. ;)
But thats just me..
Seriously though ive never heard of that problem before.
Yah, I've done a lot of reading around and found nothing at all on this subject. I have in the past hour uninstalled and reinstalled 4 different versions of drivers for this card and nothings working. It's frustrating and me being the audiophile that I am the on board does not sound as alive as the sound card.
I'd love to get a new card but don't have the money right now to throw on a $80/$100 sound card but it looks like I am stuck on the on board card now regardless...
Also I would so be a full time linux user if it weren't for steam. EVERYTHING about it is a fresh breath compared to that over bloated pile of crap...
It's literally the only thing holding me back.
I got this sound card before getting into linux BIG MISTAKE! I should have made sure to get something that was linux compatible.
