I followed the video but still no luck even though it seemed to work. I have wasted over an hour trying to update a browser. The very first thing I tried to do with linux. I am now understanding why linux has never taken off in the desktop world. I wanted to like this. I really did but an hour to update (or try to) a browser is sad. I know most of this is me being a noob to linux but still. I am very grateful that you took the time out to try and help me. I really am. You were fast and kind so thanks again but I can't believe I can't even watch a youtube video because of this issue. Guess I should stick with windows until I understand this a little better.
Still believe you shouldn't have to know rocket science for a simple software update.
Like I said-----I really am grateful for you trying to help me Skullabyss
Everything should be up to date then. If firefox isnt installed you should be able to install it by "sudo apt-get install firefox" if that doesnt work type "sudo apt-cache seach firefox" and find the right name for firefox. :)
thanks. I managed to get it to work but now I am running into trouble installing adobe plugins. Will do some research. Thanks again and thanks for this site
Are you running 64-bit or 32-bit? Also you are running a super outdated version of ubuntu. I would recommend upgrading anyways itd make life a lot easier. You can pretty much follow the steps in the link below. All you really have to do is go to the update manager and it should say that you can update to a new release you choose update and wait and continue on until your are completely up to date. :)
they stop giving support even for things like firefox if its super old, version 10.4 is an exception becuase everyone was like "I DON'T LIKE CHANGE" so its on long term support
cool, once again I am very grateful for everyones help. this is why I like this site so much. i will play around and see what kind of damage i can do.lol I am sure I will get stuck somewhere along the line and I try to figure it out before asking for help but sometimes you just need a helping hand.
