Linux Help needed thank :)

hey guys i need to move back to linux im to mad at microsoft now lol and i miss linux but my laptop has some issues i need fixing when it comes to linux so it would be amazing if you guys could help me out here

My laptop lenovo g505s with the amd A10 i have also gave it 8GB or ram and an samsung SSD and turned the dvd drive into a hard drive bay which holds 1TB my problems with linux are that last time i installed it it would not install grub and fail to boot the BIOS was set to legacy everything other issues are

i use Private internet access but i dont see a linux client only one thats in beta and im not sure how to install it

also my audio sucks ass in linux is there any way i can get an dolby digital driver for linux i can't find anything

The distro i usually use is elementary os

If you have issues again use this app from the Live usb that you installed Linux with.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair

Not sure what you mean there...

Few things.

1: Don't use elementary OS.

Elementary OS is getting better, but it is still kinda finicky.

Instead try Ubuntu Gnome. Its much more fleshed out, and you can simply customize and theme gnome to be a near copy of elementary OS.

2: I think your audio problem will fix itself once you get a proper install going. I can tell you that the dolby drivers make things sound worse. If anything you might have gotten used to dolby sound and/or you have shitty speakers/headphones.

Big +1 for Ubuntu Gnome

i have had full installs of ubuntu for up to a month before my speakers are so quiet without the driver :(

also is this it yeah ....going to give it a try in my VM https://ubuntugnome.org/

If your speakers are quiet, then there is some other problem entirely.

A drive should change the sound characteristics a bit. It should have nothing to do with loudness.

when i disable the driver in windows the sound is hit massively thats how i know when on linux without the drive my audio is crap

its only with the laptop speakers as soon as u plug in headphones the issue goes away even on linux

Have you configured the audio output device in the system settings?

its been a long time i remember changing a lot of settings to no success

This.

After a bit of research, it seems like your audio will work with linux without a driver, but it does require a little setup.

Go ahead and install what ever you want to install, and we will try and help you from there.

before i move i need to know how to get my VPN private internet access working on linux

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VPNClient

It should be easy enough to do. However I can only really help you when problems come up.
