So you already have a Distro installed?

Disregaurd my first comment I understood what you meant after I posted.

Use this http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

i am using my laptop which runs ubantu 12.04..and im trying to boot my build from the usb which i need windows iso to be written on it.

i followed the directions so far ...

i installed UNetbootin

i have selected diskimage.

selected the iso file.

usb drive. and my sandisk.

now its extracting and copying files...should take me about 20min or 30. i really dont know

i will keep this thread updated on my progress

ty for the help so far my good sir.

how do i post image on here??

i booted the computer from the usb and came to a road block....

it says UNebootin

and under it has the command Defult

i select defult but nothing happens..

theres a countdown at the bottom saying automic boot but it keps repeting

what do i do now?...

Hmmm...

You could try winusb (I have never used it though)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:colingille/freshlight
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install winusb

i got this..

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:colingille/freshlight sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install winusb
[sudo] password for josh:
Error: need a repository as argument

You didn't copy and paste that all at once, did you?...

it should be like this

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:colingille/freshlight

then

sudo apt-get update

then

sudo apt-get install winusb

ah shit....face palm and smh....

im trying it now

um... you all are making this WAY too hard.... linux needs a boot loader on the flashdrive (like yumi or unetbootin) however, windows 7 can be extracted to the drive and boot fine. just take your .iso, open it and move the files onto a flash drive. reboot and choose your flashdrive and windows installer should pop up. hope this helps.

im having problems getting my usb to work after an error poped up when using winusb....this is becomin a bad exprience for me

sorry if im causing you any inconvenience sir...

my usb stick isnt appearing on my laptop..i restarte my laptop and slide the stick in and there isnt any notification that its there....can windows 7 be installed through ubantu?

if so how?..because

if i can do so i would just install ubantu on my build and install windows from there on

if i do install it this way using a usb...am i going to get the option to clean install [as in delete current os and install windows only]??

Dude... google is your friend.  https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=how+to+intall+windows+7+from+usb&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
