Anyone know if we can run linux apps on android environment?
You can run linux in a chroot on Android, thus also linux apps. There are ready-to-roll solutions like Lil'Debi, but those come with a DE by default I think, and that's a lot of wasted storage space and resources for just running a linux app. You might want to go with a minimal (I'd recommend Debian Stable because most Androids run on a older kernel, and Debian repos have the best application compatibility with older kernels) chroot.
