Yo Logan & Wendel: Which ones and how do you install a VPN in Linux?
I dont use a vpn, but something like openvpn might be applicable to you https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/OpenVPN
You can also try just googling linux vpn, your router settings also probably have a setting to enable vpn at the router level.
afaik you just need a vpn service that supports linux because I gather most use some sort of client to connect with rather than giving you information you could pipe into anything. But again I dont use a vpn currently and havent tried on linux at all. Depending on what you want to use it for you could also just rent a server and connect to it as a proxy. The added benfit of this is you can also SSH into it and use it for a seedbox, storing and sharing files, web/voip/game hosting etc etc.
That's why I've never used a vpn on linux, i'd rather just rent a whole server.
I am doing something similar at the moment. I have Private Internet Access (PIA) VPN and so far I have been using the client software (which is only available for Windows and OSX).
PIA have posted a guide for setting up the VPN on Linux (along with other platforms): https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/client-support/#ubuntu_openvpn_installer
I am actually going down the route of installing the VPN on a second router I have. It is compatible with DD WRT so that is the way I am going.
Interesting. Thanks.
Like others have said, pretty much all VPN services use openvpn, so you can install that and set it up with the settings that your service provide. When installing openvpn from the package manager have a look for the network manager plugin as well, that way openvpn will show up in your network settings and you cna configure it or turn it on and off from the GUI.
CyberGhost is a really good VPN provider. Use OpenVPN.
