Linux and mixing desks / 32X32 audio interfaces / Dante

i want to put linux gnome om mu work laptop because i really like the work flow but i haven't had any experiences with Dante virtual sound card or 32X32 audio interfaces and linux if you have had any experiences let me know

No idea what Dante is but rule of thumb: content creation and gaming on linux is nothing compared to Windows or OS X atm, so if you're all about audio creation you're better off sticking to one of the other OSes, unless something like Ardour suits your needs.

The audio pathway in linux CAN be better than windows but it'll take some work and prolly a few headaches.

Linux is extremely flexible and there are many tools to make it do a lot of things that windows will not allow you to do...

Programs like Pulse and Jack can be used to get some very unique audio in/out setups if you're up for the challenge.

There are even custom kernels out there for low latency audio too.

Going from windows to linux audio is like the change between automatic transmission to manual transmission but x10.

Audio under linux is a steep learning curve, but imo very worthwhile for the better sound quality compared to Windows.

If you want pro-quality DAW (non-libre) check out Harrison Mixbus

Best way to try some audio creation apps would be AVLinux
Ubuntu Studio is good for basic audio work, but limited imo.
KXStudio can be added to an ubuntu based distribution for extra audio control. Only tried it briefly but didn't suit my workflow

It will be worth while to learn JACK as it is very useful for routing audio.
