Linux-3960x-NUMAsettings-ASUS-Prime-TRX40-pro-BIOS-tips

Hello Folks,

Just build a new trx40 system (Asus prime-trx40-pro and 3960x). Currently, it is with some glitches. I have openSUSE Tumbleweed.
I hope you will give me some tips.

Here are my problems and questions:
1-) From BIOS I like to set NUMA stuff. Can you explain to me what are the optimum settings for different scenarios? I do not have much knowledge about this NUMA. However, I like to use 4-channel memory with the expectation of speeding up my scientific computations. Got 4 sticks of 8gigs
or ram.

2-) I had problems with the audio of Pro WS x570-ace before. Now with prime trx-40-pro again. Asus went cheap by tying it to USB!!! Got sound but dmesg complains:
usb 5-6: cannot get ctl value: req = 0x83, wValue = 0xc00, wIndex = 0x1300, type = 4
usb 5-6: 19:0: cannot get min/max values for control 12 (id 19)
…etc
Any help?

3-) Currently having difficulty to boot with kernel 5.8.0-rc1
I had to choose recovery mode and use in cmdline:
acpi_enforce_resources=lax nomodeset
All because of the BIOS problems of the motherboard.
It seems this problem is everywhere.
Nasty ACPI stuff.
Hoping that future BIOS releases will fix this.
Any tips on that? How did you overcome this for kernel 5.6+?

4-) For you which motherboard brand is Linux-friendly?
I never had a server motherboard. But with the recent EPYC cpu line
it seems going cheap EPYC + server motherboard can be a better choice.
Fewer problems I mean. Any experiences you can share?

Please, anybody with Asus Prime trx40-pro and Linux, can you share your success stories?

All the best…

KK
