I am thinking I will have to install DD-WRT. Not sure what files I need though.
WRT54G's aren't particularly well with DDWRT, they have very small amounts of flash memory, like 2Mb, so you end up using the Micro Generic bin file, which sucks.
That sucks, so what would be a good router to get & when should I get it?
I'm not sure that it's necessary to get a new router yet, I don't use IPv6...
Well I don't mean now, I meant when the switch over is complete, Is there a way I can see if IPv6 is supported by my router? No mentoin of IPv6 on the config page.
Don't get me wrong, DDWRT will still work, just not like a full version would. You'll get IPv6, go for it, why the hell not?
But, on another note, my WRT54G mysteriously died after about 5 months of DDWRT. It could have been caused by something else, but the lights came on, but no internet. It was surely bricked.
Well does the latest firmware for the WRT54G x2.0 support IPv6?
Actually, depending on which WRT54G you have. you could have a decent amount of flash.  as for IPv6  The base OS is Linux, which fully supports IPV6..  My WRT54Gs v2.0 (the speed booster one) has a bunch of flash.
DD-WRT may not have it programmed in yet.. (i haven't felt a need to look) but you could investigate the openWRT firmware project.. I do believe it has a package or built in support. I'll have to look into that...
and to answer your question.
Cool I have Firmware
Version:Â v2.00.8 just upgraded to v4.21.1. Hope that was a good thing to do.
