Hey I guess this is more of just a question about what's more worth it. I'm finishing up on this website for my client and I'm going to have a little extra spending cash for an upgrade on my system. I'm running a 780 Ti with an i5, so I don't think 1440p would be an issue at this point. But after re-watching tek syndicate's video with the guy from Mayflower Electronics showing off their custom headphones and dac/amp combo it's hard to choose. I'm for sure upgrading to a noctua NH-D15 no matter what, but I'll only have enough money to choose between either an upgrade from my asus 1080p TM Panel monitor to a Matt x Star DP2710 Korean monitor; or Mayflower's Fostex T50RP V1 Headphones with the dac/amp. I do like sound and listen to music quite a bit, but I just want some of your opinions if 1440p is a big enough upgrade from 1080p to choose it over an amazing audio upgrade. Sorry for the long explanation!
If it were me it would be Mayflower's Fostex T50RP V1 Headphones with the dac/amp. But that is just me.
What is your current audio setup? I personally would get the 1440p Monitor because I'm ignorant when it comes to audio. What I know is 1440p is amazing.
I have really cheap $15 Logitech speakers just because I mostly use headphones. Right now all I'm using is the on-board sound from my Asus motherboard. From what I know it's a huge upgrade of sound quality when you switch to a dac/amp with good headphones. All I'm using is Sony XB500's (which are bass boosted, bleh).
Yeah I find myself leaning towards that. Thanks for the reply!
Edit: I also forgot to mention I'm using a 23" 1080p monitor. If I got the 1440p it would be a 27". Is that a big size difference?
Go for the monitor ... I don't personally own either but from most tek blogs/sites/YouTube channels that I've seen talking about high end audio generally say that its one of those things where its sort of a catch 22 in that if you never try a high end audio setup you can be completely satisfied with your cheap $20 headphones/speakers but once you try it you likely wont want to go back.Seeing as you use an Asus mobo. it probably has better audio than most PCs out there anyways.
Now in saying that I'd recommend the 1440p monitor as you mentioned you do some graphic designish type of work on websites, those extra pixels provide so much more screen real estate compared to a 1080p monitor allowing you to be far more productive. Like I said I don't own either of the above products but I can tell you that when I went from a 21in 1680 x 1050 (TN panel) monitor (that's what I've been using for a long time) to a AH-VA 24in 1080p monitor it was a world of difference .... Once you put an IPS panel next to your TN I swear to you you will never consider a buying a TN panel again.
